• Based in Ireland, our team of chartered, registered psychologists offer neuroaffirmative collaborative autism assessments for adults in a safe and supportive online setting

UNDERSTANDING AUTISM

Being autistic is a valid and important way of being in this world, is not a mental illness or intellectual disability, and as such there is no associated medical test.

Autism is a neurotype however, and in a world designed for neurotypical people, being autistic can involve challenges.

Every Autistic person is different in the same way that every individual is unique. As a result of experiencing the world differently, you may need support in some areas to fulfil your potential.

Autistic people generally describe experiencing differences in certain areas relating to:

  • Communication preferences (spoken and non-spoken communication)

  • Developing and maintaining relationships

  • Particular motor movements or vocalisations

  • Preference for routines, difficulty relating to uncertainty and unpredictability

  • Particular interests/passions

  • Sensory issues
